Jayne is a Kent based artist and designer; originally studying textile design at Winchester School of Art, her career has been in design management for the tabletop and the travel goods industry and still works as a design consultant for a number of UK brands. In-between deadlines and demands of these businesses, a more personal search for fulfilment has more recently been sort and image creation has become that outlet. Jayne sees connectivity as key to her development as she absorbs the challenges of this new world.
Jayne’s work is inspired by the natural world and explores the tension between the power and the fragility of the plants on this perilous blue planet. Her focus has been the study of her immediate surroundings and the flora within. Currently working in the medium of cyanotype, Jayne thrives on its spontaneity and unpredictability. Captivated by the alchemy, delivering a rich tapestry of blues that captures an intricate image; and often used in conjunction with other materials in search for new ways to express this intimacy. Jayne supports all her work with ad hoc sketching and regularly attends life drawing.
