David Embry's artistic interests cover a wide range of subjects and include accomplished oil and acrylic landscapes still life and composition. He has been a prolific book illustrator, gaining excellent reviews. He has refined an elegant style of drawing, which shows a mastery of materials, including pen and ink. His sensitive watercolours comprise mainly landscape, figure and portrait studies which can
include houses, landscapes and people, and pictures concerned with conservation.
His work has been widely exhibited at home and abroad including Canada and the USA. He has won a number of painting competitions including the “Kent Artist of the year” for historical paintings which he won twice and a number of other prizes including a Rowney drawing prize. He has also won the “Kent People and Places” competition twice.
David Embry is interested in conservation and this has resulted in a number of pictures of houses and landscapes commissioned including a series of pictures as prises for the National Farmers Union Annual Conservation Competition.
David is a tutor at Dedham Hall for painting and drawing holidays for students from beginners to highly accomplished artists
